Oh wait I know this song 2.0

Recent downloads into my iTunes have somewhat followed a bit of the same path. Following on from the greatness that ( well to me at least ) was the ''oh wait I know this song'' post,
http://xtrailsandsails.blogspot.fr/2013/05/oh-wait-i-know-this-song.html

i'm going to have this one follow ( forgive me for this one-liner ) a similar tune. Its those so called 'old school' schwangers that you sometimes still find yourself enjoying in either of the following circumstances  :

a) a braai : an open flamed, outdoor cooking event/soiree from my native South African land, that never.. never gets out of hand.

b) a karaoke/family function/reunion/late night accidental club appearance/lets play a song that everyone will enjoy type of gathering.

c) a deep dark historical shuffle of the family ipod more commonly used on road trips, but that you are borrowing whilst at the gym ( boet ), because you don't want to be distracted by the ever-constant Facebook notifications of events. That you will never go to, but are yet invited to religiously by semi-club promoters who are soon to be unfriended.

So to be fair these songs have never left us, and we welcome them back into our ears gladly. However it is always very refreshing to hear them in a new way that is both interesting yet true to the original song. So with no more silly sentences ahead, here are 5, so fresh they practically were just hatched, new remixes of songs to keep handy when the thought of playing/listening to golden oldies of the 70's/80's/90's/00's bumper pack cd for the seventh time becomes to much.

The first song is so new to Youtube ( loaded up today ), that it does not even show up on the blogspot loader ( kif..) but here is the link :

Its a tasty little tune that re-educates us on the fearless funk created by the famed 5 of Jackson ( The Jackson 5, don't know why I tried to be clever there ). In direct comparison to the original released in 1974, its a little bit faster and a bit more powerful in the bass department but my oh my it is so wonderfully smooth you just want to bite your bottom lip and slide sway around in your socks (well that definitely happens to me).

Next up we have a swinging sound that will often get played at previously mentioned gatherings to rekindle those wonderful times of our childhood we spent wrapped up in the wonderful world of Walt Disney. Since the films release and the age of remixing came about, the famed song ' I wanna be like you ' has seen many a remix, ranging from dubstep, garage and some awkwardly slowed down acoustic guitar. This version however is one that I see stay true to the splendid swings of the original song. It almost takes it a little bit further and faster into the balkan genre with the underlying similar sound that I, and many others have always enjoyed.

Tracy Chapman... she has a special place in all of our hearts, and the thought of 'some DJ' just strolling in and remixing any one of her songs is something many are often opposed to, myself included. However The Tailors, two wonderful little Dutch youngbloods in the DJ world, have very politely and elegantly escorted our girl Tracy into a new little space where she is definitely still treated with all the vocal respect she deserves. The Tailors also featured in my previous blogpost, where they brought George Benson bouncing and bounding back into my recently played playlist. So without further ado, here is Tracy Chapman and The Tailors, its a delight and a dream.

To finally end off with a on the verge of cheesy but we don't like to admit it, classic would be my absolute pleasure. Mark Morrison, I would hate to have to say it but he is one of those dear chaps that blessed us ever so briefly with a banger, then faded away slowly as other fellow RnB peers became ever-so-wonderfully-prominent. #2 in the US and #1 in Europe, ''Return of the Mack', it was Mark's moment. It's a song that captures the spirit of 1996 and easily creeps onto varying playlists suited to some summer splendor we all occasionally dabble in. In steps Viceroy, a DJ who believes it's summertime all the time and produced a series of remixes under the name Jet Life, one of those the songs you are about to press play on and enjoy.

Get hold of these tracks if you can, and you, your family and your future will be filled with happiness, ( that sounds like something out of a fortune cookie, but yeah I think you get what I mean )

Happy New Music Monday.

X-out
